Tristan Thompson could be the next star after Kevin Love from Cleveland Cavaliers who will be up for a trade in the NBA February deadline. The Cavaliers are going for a total rebuild and it makes no sense for them to pay $19 million per year to Thompson. There is no way the Cavs would be taking a risk and paying for his massive contract, they would just buy him out and save $4 million.
Tristan Thompson’s and Kevin Love’s days as members of the Cleveland Cavaliers are EXTREMELY numbered.

There are a few NBA teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics who could sign Tristan Thompson in the upcoming deadline. Here are the possible trade deals for Thompson with Lakers and Celtics if the Cavaliers don’t extend his contract and make a buyout.
Lakers Needs to Replace DeMarcus Cousins
Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a suitable replacement after DeMarcus Cousins to an injury and require players for their frontcourt depth. Tristan Thompson could come off the bench for the Lakers and can easily dominate the second unit.
Rajon Rondo, Alex Caruso, LeBron James and other players in Lakers are efficient playmakers and Tristan can create perfect shots around the rim. It would also take some load off from Anthony Davis and the Lakers have previously also shown some interest in Tristan Thompson and a deal with the Cavaliers could happen soon.
Celtics are Looking for More NBA Stars
Boston Celtics are looking for elite players even since Al Horford and Kyrie Irving has left the roster. Enes Kanter is unable to fill the role and the Celtics could sign Tristan Thompson for the job. It has been rumored that Boston will trade out Gordon Hayward and get a few assets in exchange and Thompson from Cleveland could be one of the names.

Tristan Thompson at the age of 28 years has been scoring 13.2 points per game, which is his career-high average. The Cavaliers are yet to make an official statement but most likely Thompson and Love will be out of the team before the February trade deadline.
