Anthony Davis is playing outstanding for the Los Angeles Lakers and they are at the top position in the points table for NBA 2019-20 season. The pairing of Davis with LeBron James has paid off and the duo is unbeatable in the court. But it doesn’t mean that the 26-year-old NBA superstar will remain with the Lakers even for next season.
So, Anthony Davis will not sign a contract extension with the @Lakers but will test free agency. No, I'm not implying anything. #MFFL

As per the contract extension rules, January 7, 2020, is the first date where Anthony Davis can sign a new contract with Lakers. However, Davis has already waived his trade bonus and if he doesn’t sign a new contract next month with his team, he will eligible to enter in NBA 2020 free agency and leave the LA Lakers behind.
Anthony Davis wants to be Free Agent in 2020 Season
Anthony Davis was picked in the 2012 NBA draft as the first overall pick and until this year, he was a part of the New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers got Davis after a blockbuster trade earlier this year and it has really paid off. While Anthony is happy to be a part of the Los Angeles team, he would like to try his hands at the upcoming free agency.
It is not just about picking his team, Davis as a free agent can negotiate the price and duration of his deal. Anthony Davis can sign a four-year, $146 million contract next month, or enter the 2020 free agency and ask for a five-year, $202 million with Los Angeles Lakers.
Will Anthony Davis Re-Sign with Lakers?
Los Angeles Lakers are currently at the top of the NBA Western Conference points table with a 24-6 record in the ongoing NBA 2019-20 season. Anthony Davis has played a big part by playing with an average of 27.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game and 49 percent shooting rate.

The Lakers are the top contenders to win the NBA 2020 title and Davis can become MVP of the season. But if somehow the Lakers mess it up, Davis will think twice before re-signing with them. It is no doubt that the LA Lakers is the top team right now, but Anthony Davis is equally responsible and him joining any other teams next Summer can make them great too.
