Apple iPhone 12 Release Date Delayed due to Coronavirus outbreak in China

Apple iPhone 12 production might get affected due to the recent Coronavirus outbreak which started from Wuhan City in China. While there are also reports that iPhone SE 2 (or iPhone 9) would also be delayed, Apple has taken strict steps to launch the mid-range smartphone on time.

The Cupertino based tech giant has started to shift the production of the devices to be released in the first half of 2020. But the same can’t be done for iPhone 12 as it is early stages of development at Chinese Apple factories and if the coronavirus isn’t contained soon, there would be no option but to delay the release date.

iPhone SE 2/ iPhone 9 shifts Production

Apple iPhone SE 2/ iPhone 9 won’t have many problems as the devices are already manufactured and just had to be assembled. There are reports that Apple has closed the retail stores and offices in China and has stopped production completely in that country.

It won’t wait to resume their operation in the coronavirus infected regions but instead shift the production to countries like India and Taiwan where it has earlier set up factories. As per the reports, iPhone SE 2 will release on the same dates as planned but the same can’t be said for the upcoming flagship device, Apple’s iPhone 12.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the company has restricted travel to China and the business is at a critical level. Coronavirus has infected more than 50,000 people in China and 1000s of them have died due to the infection, the situation is getting worse each day.

It is why Apple won’t be sending out its Engineers in China due to the risk of infection, which will only delay the production of the iPhone 12 further. The release date of the Apple iPhone 12 series is originally set in September 2020, but it has to be delayed due to COVID-19 infecting China and the whole world.
