The Witcher Season 2 Renewed by Netflix, Linear Storyline, Book Adaptation and Cast Details Revealed

The Witcher Season 2 is officially revealed by Netflix after a lot of rumors surfacing that work has started for the second season. Despite getting mixed reviews from the critics, fans have loved ‘The Witcher’ series and even the creator Andrzej Sapkowski has said that Henry Cavill is perfect in the role of Geralt of Rivia.

The fantasy series has become so popular that it has even made a rise in the number of players for CD Projekt Red’s ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ game and fans are also demanding for The Witcher 4 game. While it could be hard to estimate the release date for season two of the show, story details, book on which it will be based and cast and characters information for ‘The Witcher Season 2’ is already out.

The Witcher Season 1 ends on a specific note and from that point, the storyline will be heavily inspired from the main Andrzej Sapkowski’s ‘The Witcher’ books. The first season of Netflix’s Witcher show is inspired from the short story collection, ‘The Last Wish’ and ‘The Sword of Destiny’ which keep jumping between different time periods and even some of the viewers were confused.

But it won’t be a problem for ‘The Witcher Season 2’ as it will follow a liner storyline structure, will be easy to follow and closely based on ‘Blood of Elves’ which is kind of the first entry in the Witcher book series. The Witcher season 2 plot will revolve around Geralt training Princess Ciri at the residence of Witcher monster hunters named Kaer Morhen castle.

The Witcher Season 2 will introduce the character of Vesemir, who is kind of a father figure and mentor to Geralt throughout the books and games. Mark Hamill could be roped in to play the role of  Vesemir after he liked and replied thumbs up for a tweet suggesting his name for the character.

Fans on Twitter are also tweeting for the same and while it doesn’t suggest an actual casting, it could easily happen given the similarity between Mark Hamill and Vesemir in ‘The Witcher’ books and we can see Luke Skywalker finally playing the father of Geralt of Rivia.
