Los Angeles Lakers had a really great roster for the NBA 2019-20 season and the credit goes to their general manager Rob Pelinka. The Lakers are at 24-7 record leading the NBA Western Conference despite losing the last 4 games. It means there is a lot of room for improvement and the Lakers GM Rob Pelinka has said that he is interested in getting roster upgrades before the 2020 NBA trade deadline.
While the current games are against weaker teams, once the playoffs start, LA Lakers will be facing teams over .500 and they need effective players for that. Here are the roster upgrades that Lakers needs and the trade options they could explore before the February 6 deadline.
Lakers Needs a Third Scorer before the Finals
LeBron James and Anthony Davis duo is doing great in the Lakers but the team is dependent too much on them. While the Lakers tried hard to get Kawhi Leonard as their third superstar in the 2019 free agency, the finals MVP ended up with the town rivals LA Clippers.
When LeBron James is off the floor the Lakers have an Offensive Rating of 102. Currently, the worst Offensive Rating in the NBA is owned by the Chicago Bulls, and it comes in at 103.5.

Lakers are the #1 seed in the West because of 2 major reason, Lebron & AD. That’s it. It’s not because of Kuz. Clint should our some respect on Lebron’s name

It is not much time for the playoffs and the team is not consistent at all, Pelinka has shown interest in making an upgrade to the team in the form of another ball-handler and scorer. The Lakers need a third scorer who can help the team in ball-handling and outside shooting in the crucial games in the 2019-20 season.
Trade Options for Lakers in 2019-20 Deadline
Kyle Kuzma, Rajon Rando, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are the players from Lakers roster who could be traded in the February deadline. Rob Pelinka won’t open up his cards until the trade deadline is very near, but given the contract amount and age, these are the most probable options for Lakers to trade out.
Andre Iguodala will be the primary target for Lakers, but Memphis Grizzlies are being stubborn and want a trade out instead of buying his contract. Jeff Green, Robert Covington, Derrick Rose, and Jeff Teague are other notable players on the trade radar of Lakers, who could prove to be useful upgrades in the second half of the NBA 2019-20 season.
