Although the Cupertino based tech giant rarely share any details about its new products until the release date is near, production sites and designers always leak some kind of information. It is said that Apple iPhone 12 will have a thinner display screen which would save battery and decrease power usage.
iPhone 12 OLED Battery-Friendly Display has Entered Production
The latest rumor about iPhone 12 has come from a Korean publication which is claiming that Apple is making big changes in the plant situated at Gyeonggi Province in South Korea. LG Display are the major screen suppliers for Apple devices and new adjustments are being made by adding the latest equipment for the 2020 lineup of devices.
Apple is focusing on the production of top-notch integrated panels, and the changes are centered on assembly lines which are known to be used exclusively for Apple devices. It is why speculations are saying that Apple is changing the display tech for iPhone 12 with an all new battery-friendly OLED screen.
LG Display has been ordered to start production for low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) backplane technology, previously used for Apple Watch Series 4. LTPO is very battery-friendly and uses 5-15 percent less power than the regular LTPS display screens.
iPhone 12 will have Slimmer Displays
Apple iPhone 12 switching to touch-integrated panels is also in line with earlier reports by another Korean publication talking about the possibilities of thinner screens for the 2020 iPhone. As per the tech experts, Apple has plans to fuse the touchscreen component directly into the OLED panel, and hence reducing the extra layer over the screen, making it ultimately very thinner.
However, there is no way to confirm or deny the rumors until Apple launches the iPhone 12 in fall 2020. But one thing is sure Apple has plans to reduce the size of the 2020 iPhone without changing the display size and there are other ways to achieve the same.
