Alita: Battle Angel 2 could soon be happening as the movie has one of the best fanbases the world has ever seen. Ever since the digital release of the first Alita movie, fans of the cyberpunk manga-based movie have been demanding Alita sequel from the makers. There have been various Twitter trends, change.org petitions and the latest campaign included flying a banner a #ALITASEQUEL over the Oscar 2020 awards.

Disney knows that fans have been demanding Alita: Battle Angel sequel since the last few months and they might finally confirm the movie and push its release date a bit earlier too. Alita 2 would never have been made given how the first movie didn’t gross much money in the US box-office, but the recent surge in its popularity might greenlight a sequel.

Alita: Battle Angel sequel was the hot topic at Oscar 2020 awards despite not being a part of any major nominations. Fans who are demanding Alita sequel raised the needed $1,810 through GoFundMe to print a banner. A huge banner with names Alita Sequel and Alita Army was flying high above the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, where the 92nd Academy Awards (Oscars 2020) show was happening.

The best part is that the GoFundMe campaign raised more than the needed money and now they have a set a goal of $15,000 and will partner with Open Bionics, a Bristol, United Kingdom-based company which provides affordable bionic limbs for amputees, just like cyborgs in Alita movie. J
on Landau, the co-producer of Alita: Battle Angel movie earlier asked the fans to show their support so that their voices can reach the Disney Studios executives. Alita Sequel now comes under Disney they acquired 20th Century Fox in March 2019 and they need to be convinced that investing in Alita 2 will be worth it.
Alita: Battle Angel 2 Release Date and Plot Speculations
Alita: Battle Angel 2 will carry forward the story of Alita (Rosa Salazar) after she wins the motorball tournament and reaches the city of Zalem to take revenge on Nova (Edward Norton), who will have a bigger role in the sequel. The VFX head working on Alita has hinted that there are plenty of manga source materials to be adapted as a story for Alita sequel. Alita: Battle Angel sequel release date can happen around 2023-24 to be the earliest as per some of the reports.
