Shrek 5 Reboot is almost confirmed in the works as fans have been waiting for their favorite character to return on the big screen for almost a decade. But that is no reason to worry as Dreamworks animation studio has been working on the fifth installment of Shrek movie and it would be released in the next two years. Shrek 5 is in works at Dreamworks and NBCUniversal has huge plans for the franchise. It has been rumored that the planning and pre-production for the next Shrek movie were continued until 2017 and Michael McCullers was hired as the new writer who has completed the script already.
I finished that script which I really, really, really love and it’s really personal to me. It’s got a pretty big reinvention behind it that I guess I can’t really reveal, but since DreamWorks was sold to Universal in that time for over $3 billion, I imagine they’re particularly interested in it stepping up and actually figuring out the future of the franchise in that way on the corporate level.
Dreamworks and NBCUniversal studios confirmed about the Shrek 5 movie way back in 2016 and the only reason it has not come out is because of the animation studio takeover. Every project at Dreamworks has been now undertaken by NBC-Universal and the top brass has asked the animators to work on Puss in Boots sequel before the Shrek sequel reboot.

Shrek 5 will be totally changed to the pander the modern audience and also the character design and animation style will also improve as per the current graphics technology. It will be a modernized version of Shrek and people of today will be able to connect with it.
So many things have been changed since the last decade and 2020 will be a new beginning. Shrek 5: Reboot has a rumored release date slot of September 22, 2022, in the US and even the worldwide release will happen on the same date.
