NBA: Joel Embiid could be Fired from Philadelphia 76ers before Trade Deadline

Joel Emiid dislocated his ring finger when he was trying to stop a shot by Thunder forward Darius Bazley in last week’s game. The Philadelphia 76ers star underwent surgery and is now resting until he is evaluated fit to play again. It might be a perfect time for the 76ers to re-think Embiid’s place in the team as they move forward with him sitting on the sidelines.

The combination of Embiid and guard Ben Simmons is not doing that great and Philadelphia hardly has any shots from beyond the arc. Joel Embiid is unable to score three-pointers and not helping that much in the offense, which is why Philadelphia 76ers can fire him and trade out from the team before the February 6 deadline.

Joel Embiid was once very effective in 76ers when he was surrounded by names such as JJ Redick and Jimmy Butler who are now part of New Orleans Pelicans Miami Heat respectively. The Sixers coach Brett Brown has urged the Australian guard to take more three-point shots but he is not listening to that.

Embiid has only taken five shots from beyond the arc this season and out of them, he is only able to hit two of them into the basket. Apart from that, Joel doesn’t look comfortable, he is overshadowed by Al Horford and Ben Simmons in almost every game. He is not providing the numbers 76ers expect from him and it is time to remove him for good.

Ben Simmons, Al Horford, Tobia Harris are all doing well and playing way better than Joel Embiid. The Horford-Simmons duo is much better than Embiid-Simmons and the 76ers are well aware of that. There are a lot of rotation clash in the team lately and somehow Embiid is the root cause of every problem.

Joel will be sitting out two weeks from the team and it will make it easier for Philadelphia that they are doing better without him and need an offensive star to replace him. The 76ers could trade him out as the NBA deadline approaches and Joel Embiid could be soon placed on the trade block.
