The Winds of Winter release date is no longer possible in 2019 as the year is passed and we still don’t have any update from George RR Martin. Every year is passing by and the sixth book in ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ novel series is yet to see the light of the day.

The fifth book was released in 2011 and it has been nine years since fans have been waiting for ‘The Winds of Winter’ book or even any update on the release date. GRRM has promised that he will complete the TWOW book and release in 2020 Summer and from the looks of it, the author may fulfill his promise and release the book in the next year.
GRRM Making New Promise on Publishing TWOW
George RR Martin never announced a formal release date for ‘The Winds of Winter’ as he just tends to break his promise and delay the launch after mentioning several dates. But to the contrary he has made another promise after saying he won’t do so until he is sure and GRRM appeared way more confident this time. It seems that George is very close to finishing ‘The Winds of Winter’ and his new promise is very credible. GRRM wrote on his blog entry titled ‘Thanks, New Zealand’ and announced that the much-awaited book is arriving in the summer of 2020.
As for finishing my book, I fear that New Zealand would distract me entirely too much so it’s best to leave me here in Westeros for once. But I tell you this – if I don’t have ‘THE WINDS OF WINTER’ in hand when I arrive in New Zealand for Worldcon, you have here my formal written permission to imprison me in a small cabin on White Island, overlooking that lake of sulfuric acid, until I’m done.
The Winds of Winter 2020 Release Date Possible?
Fans are having mixed opinions on whether the 71-years-old author can finish the book on time as from the looks of it doesn’t seem a 2020 summer release date will be possible for his next book. Some of the observers are confident that George RR Martin will release ‘The Winds of Winter’ around August or September 2020.
All teasing aside, I think 2020 will be the year TWOW gets published. I have faith in my sources.

GRRM delivering the next book on the Worldcon deadline have very fewer chances of happening. In a poll conducted for the release date of ‘The Winds of Winter’, only 42% of people think George can fulfill his promise of 2020 release while 58% says it will take more time.
