Russell Westbrook could be traded out of Houston Rockets very soon as the 2020 NBA February deadline approaches. When the Rockets made a trade in the late free agency to get Westbrook in exchange for Chris Paul, everyone thought the gamble would pay off. The plan was to reunite the pair of James Harden and Russell Westbrook from the OKC days and get the duo to headline Houston Rockets in NBA 2019-20 season.
According to @ryenarussillo, Russell Westbrook could be available via trade

However, it has not been working as Westbrook is not doing that great and even the performance of Harden has declined in the last few games. It is why the Rockets have decided that they can’t afford Russell Westbrook anymore and would trade him out and make available for the February deadline.
James Harden Plays Better without Russell Westbrook
Houston Rockets signed Russell Westbrook to boost their championship chances for the ongoing NBA season. James Harden and Westbrook were supposed to be the power duos like LeBron James-Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard-Paul George and other two elite NBA stars working together.
But the playing styles of Westbrook and Harden are so similar that they are kind of stealing shots from each other instead of providing a window of opportunity to their teammate. Rockets team has better performance when Harden is playing without Russell Westbrook and it is one of the major reasons why Daryl Morey will trade him out in the next few days.
Rockets Can’t Afford Russell Westbrook Anymore
Russell Westbrook is getting a salary of more than $38 million for this season and have to be paid over $132 million over the next three years. For an aging guard over 31, it would be hard to get even a buyer at this stage of the NBA season.
Per Source: The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets have discussed a trade that would send Russell Westbrook to the Knicks in exchange for RJ Barrett, Marcus Morris and Bobby Portis. I’m told the Knicks are looking to create a big 3 of Westbrook, Randle and Knox.

While Daryl Morey directly can’t say that he is dumping Russell Westbrook, making the star available for trade deals would be a smarter way to move him out of Rockets. There are some rumors which says that the New York Knicks might make a trade for Westbrook in exchange for Rj Barrett, Marcus Morris and Bobby Portis to make their own big 3 of Westbrook, Randle and Knox.
