A man in Atlanta has reportedly died due to Legionnaire’s disease post his stay at a popular hotel. Furthermore, eleven other people who were staying at Sheraton Atlanta are also diagnosed with Legionnaire’s disease.

Nancy Nydam is the director of communications at the Georgia Department of Public Health. She has revealed more than sixty-one probable cases of the Legionnaire’s disease are recognized.

The researchers are continuously looking for the major cause of the disease. However, it has been revealed Legionnaire’s disease is caused by a bacterium.
The experts claim the bacterium is called Legionella bacteria.
Where is the bacterium commonly found?
They are commonly found in the natural environment. Researches also suggest warm water is most suitable for them. Georgia Department of Health has revealed where the bacteria are commonly found. They include,
- Faucets and showerheads
- Hot tubs
- Cooling towers
- Warm water tanks
- Decorative fountains
- Plumbing systems in buildings
The hotel is considerate with the researchers. The premises of Sheraton Atlanta are voluntarily open to professional researchers for testing.
On Tuesday the general manager of Sheraton Atlanta stated the hotel will be closed till the 11th of August.
