This is not the week’s first major Film Festival selection unveiling. The Toronto International Film Festival won the race of announcing the selections by a close mark. As the official selections of both TIFF and Venice are out, we can now perceive a firm image of 2019-20 awards season.

The commencement event of the 2019 Venice Film Festival is world premiere of “The Truth”, the new film of Hirokazu Kore-eda. The Truth is a family drama featuring Ethan Hawke, Juliette Binoche and Catherine Deneuve. The drama is also the Kore-eda’s first directorial efforts after winning Palme d’Or for Shoplifters in 2018.

Venice Film Festival 2019 is supposed to ‘call it a day’ with “The Burnt Orange Heresy” which is Giuseppe Capotondi’s latest starring. The film also features Elizabeth Debicki, Mick Jagger and Claes Bang.
This year’s competition jury President has already been announced by Venice! Lucrecia Martel, the director of Argentinian and filmmaker of Zama and La Cienaga is the seventh women to hold the position.
