Hepatitis A has caused an epidemic in South Carolina. It is a contagious liver infection that is caused by a virus. The main cause of the infection is coming in physical contact with an infected person. It includes sharing food and drinks. As per the reports, cooking food kills the virus and stops it from growing.
As per the South Carolina DHEC (Department of Health and Environmental Control), hepatitis A is spreading statewide. However, it has become the 21st state to do so since mid-2016. Furthermore, Aiken County also had declared an outbreak in February 2019.
